Ride For Your Life Boston, United States
- Gathering/Meeting
- Other – Bike ride to a rally
So far in 2024, fifty pedestrians and eight cyclists have lost their lives to road violence in Massachusetts. Three cyclists have been killed in Cambridge alone. At 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, Ride for Your Life participants will set off from Cambridge Common and bike past the locations of all three deaths. The ride will conclude at the Massachusetts State House in Beacon Hill, where more participants will join the cyclists and lawmakers for a 12 p.m. rally calling for state lawmakers to build safer streets by taking three actions:
- allow towns and cities to have the option to implement red light cameras to protect pedestrians in crosswalks,
- allow towns and cities to have the option to use speed cameras to reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes,
- expand the requirements for proven truck safety equipment including lateral protective devices, convex and crossover mirrors, and backup cameras to reduce the danger of the most dangerous vehicles on the road.
