So far, Remembrance events have been announced in the following countries:
Uganda – Kampala on 21.11. at 12 am by the Foundation for Private Sector Drivers Initiative
Swaziland/Eswatini – Mbabane on 21.11. at 12 am by the Road Accident Action Group
Somalia – Hargeisa, Burao and Berbera on 21.11. at 12 am by the Institute of Building Basic Life Skills
South Africa – Port Elizabeth on 21.11. at 12 am by Rescue Campaign NPO
The plan has as its target a 50% reduction of road deaths and injuries. To achieve it will require hard work by many actors and much political will throughout the decade. Yet for citizens of all countries, even if this target is achieved, this will mean that many among them will lose their life or be seriously injured in a road crash during the coming decade. This is a very sad fact for road victim advocates, for whom the only acceptable target is zero / as close to zero as possible, as expressed in the World Day banner: We do NOT want MORE victims to remember, we want to live our lives TOGETHER!
Zabawa on 21.11. at 12 am – main national observance organized by the association Przejscie in and around the Road Victim Monument in Zabawa, including Holy Mass, lighting of candles, planting a tree of remembrance, a conference, and a concert.
There are so very many victims to remember on each World Day – millions upon millions of people killed and injured on the world’s roads in years past, including the most recent year. With these words people affected by road deaths and injuries are calling for them to end: “We do NOT want MORE victims to remember, we want to live our lives TOGETHER!”

Describe what happened in a testimony to illustrate how dangerous speeding is and to make the case for ACT-ing for lower speeds and lower speed streets everywhere where people live. Lower speeds are survivable speeds and they also reduce the seriousness of injuries or prevent them altogether. Therefore this is the focus for World Day this year, reflected in our two posters.
