join the whole world in the observance of
WORLD DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR ROAD TRAFFIC VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS
20th Annual Provincial Commemoration Negros Occidental, Negros Island Region, Philippines
NOVEMBER 16, 2025 (Sunday)
World Day of Remembrance is a high profile global event to remember the many millions who have been killed and seriously injured on the world’s roads and to acknowledge the suffering of all affected victims, families, and communities — millions added each year to countless millions already suffering: a truly tremendous cumulative toll.
In 2006, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental hosted the first observance of World Day initiated by PROJECT C.A.R.E.S. (a victims’ family NGO) – which is now observed nationwide by virtue of Republic Act No. 11468: An Act Designating the Third Sunday of November Every Year as The National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims, Survivors, and Their Families.
This year, on the occasion of the 20th consecutive year of World Day of Remembrance in Negros Occidental, we enjoin all governments and non governmental civil society organizations, emergency response and volunteer movements, the health care and medical services providers, law enforcement and educational institutions — to dedicate any simple yet meaningful and solemn REMEMBERING CEREMONIES to honor our road traffic victims — including the victims of the typhoons Tino and Uwan.
PROJECT CARES RS10p Program Partners will commemorate this year’s observance with MASS INTENTIONS offered in churches, offering wreath and floral offerings, candle-lighting, and Moment of Silence at the Road Crash Victims’ Memorial and the World Day Memorial Tree inside the Capitol Lagoon and Park, Bacolod City. The PWD / Deaf Federations together with Kali Kids Safety Advocates will initiate a “CALL TO ACTION” for the governments to “COMMIT TO ACT for INCLUSIVE ROAD TRAFFIC SAFETY AND INJURY PREVENTION with ACCOUNTABILITY.” Other simple initiatives to “bring THE GLOBAL PLAN to local actions” in order to help halve road traffic crashes down to the community level promoting the VISION ZERO road traffic crash deaths include “danZ for Life! (UN DARS)”, RTSIP Advocacy Posters Mobile Exhibit and Learning Hub with RTSIP Education, Blood 4+ Life! (Blood Donation Pledges Registry), Safe S6X, the e-REMEMBER Me (Road Crash Memorial Registry) and i Survive! (Stories of Survivors). Final Program Details – TO BE ANNOUNCED.
