Jakarta, rsa.or.id — The collaboration between the Indonesian Road Safety Association (RSA), Bike to Work (B2W) Indonesia, the Pedestrian Coalition and Save The Children Indonesia organized an action to commemorate the 2021 World Traffic Accident Victims.
This action involving volunteers from each organization was carried out at Tugu Tani, Central Jakarta, 21 November 2021 at 08.00 – 09.00 WIB.
“On this occasion we are holding a joint prayer at the scene of the accident that killed 9 pedestrians who were hit by a woman under the influence of psychotropic substances, as well as for the cyclist who had just lost his life as a result of being hit by a car,” said Rio, the Honorary Board of RSA Indonesia to the media. , Sunday (11/21/2021).
Furthermore, Rio said, mannequins as a representation of the accident victims were then placed with the activists who unfurled action banners in the Tugu Tani park.
“This activity is also carried out by the Pedestrian Coalition volunteers in Pekanbaru, Riau,” added Rio.
“In the end, everyone is very aware that this action is only ceremonial, the most important thing is that the struggle after this must be carried out consistently,” said Ivan Virnanda, General Chairperson of RSA Indonesia at the same location.
“The Decade of Action 2021-2030 must be carried out together, the collaborative spirit must be further strengthened in the future to achieve the target of reducing the fatality rate to 50% in 2030,” said Ivan closing the conversation.
On this occasion, representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, Directorate of Facilities – Directorate of Land Transportation were present. Also cyclists from Bandung to join this action.
